MLA Rice reviews latest notes on Pacific NorthWest LNG project for North Coast media

MLA Jennifer Rice had some comments
for the media on LNG during the
NDP Community BBQ on Thursday
North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice took time out of yesterday's NDP Community BBQ at Mariner's Park to offer up a few comments related to the status of the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG project at Lelu Island.

Ms. Rice, who spoke to the issue during the summer session of the Legislature, but did not vote on the Liberal Government's bill during the Final day of the Legislature proceedings, outlined some of her latest thoughts on the proposed development as part of a media interview during the event.

Speaking to CFTK TV's Christa Dao during a beak from grill duty at the Community BBQ yesterday, the North Coast MLA noted in particular some of the current events taking place in Malaysia of late, as well as her concerns over the state of engagement between the company and Lax Kw'alaams.

"Well right now, you'll notice that in the media there is a lot of reports around political turmoil in Malaysia, so in part, I'm sure that that has something to do with silence on the project"
...
"Namely, why Lax Kw'alaams did not sign on to the project is their concerns were not addressed, around their ability to get their food, social and ceremonial sea resources"

The short interview with Ms. Rice can be found here, her contribution was part of a larger overview of the status of the project in the Northwest, featuring some further background from Spencer Sproule, a Senior Advisor for Corporate Affairs with Pacific NorthWest LNG.

During his commentary, Mr. Sproule noted the progress that the company has made to this point in their plans and how they plan to move forward both with the Environmental Assessment process and towards more engagement with Lax Kw'alaams First Nation.
