City of Prince Rupert heads towards Holiday hours


Things will slow down a fair bit at City Hall over the next few weeks as the City's elected representatives and those who work at City Hall head into holiday mode until January.

City Hall will be Closed until January 2nd as of this Friday afternoon, reopening for business on January 3rd at 9:30 AM.

All payments to City Hall that are due on December 31st will be accepted up to and including January 3rd, 2017 at 4:30 PM with no penalty.

Beyond the down time for the City's elected officials and staff members at City Hall, the various services offered by the City of Prince Rupert will also be moving towards a holiday schedule at the end of this week.

A a look at some of those reduced hours can be found below:

The Recreation Complex will be open for much of the Holiday period following the schedule:

December 24 -- Pool and Recreation Centre close at Noon
December 25 and 26 -- All facilities Closed
December 27 to 30 -- Open Regular Hours
December 31 -- Pool and Recreation Facilities Close at Noon
January 1st -- All Facilities Closed
January 2nd -- Regular Schedule resumes

More information on the Recreation Centre over the holidays can be found from their Facebook page or the Recreation Department Website.

The Library as well will head into holiday mode this week, following the schedule below:

December 24 to 27 -- Closed
December 28 to 30 -- Open Regular Hours
December 31 to January 2 -- Closed
January 3 -- Regular Schedule Resumes

For those that make us of the City Landfill Site at Ridley Island it too will have a range of hours for use over the next two weeks.

December 24 -- Open 8:30 to 12:15 PM
December 25 & 26 -- Closed
December 27 to 30 -- Open 8:30  to 4:45 PM
December 31 -- Open 8:30 AM to 12:15 PM
January 1 -- Closed
January 2 -- Open 8:30 to 4:45 PM

Residential garbage collection will take place as outlined from the City Website

The Public Works Department also features a holiday schedule through to January.

December 24 through 27 -- Closed
December 28 through 30 -- Open Regular Hours
December 31 to January 2 -- Closed
January 3 -- Regular Hours 8 AM to 4:30 PM

For any 24 hour emergency requirements you contact the City's Public Works Department at
250-624-3000.

For Cemetery arrangements during the closure contact 250-627-0950.

The City is also reminding residents that the Kaien Road Recycling Depot has a 24 hour transfer station in place at the Kaien Road facility for those hours when the Regional Depot is closed

Council members return to work in January with a schedule of twenty Public Council Sessions in place for 2017. The first session of the New Year for City Council comes up on January 9th.
