City Council Preview: Monday, March 6, 2017


A fairly light agenda is on the to do list for the evening, with Council set to receive a number of Reports from civic departments for much of their workload, with the main focus on the night destined to be put on the delivery of the 2017 Budget Presentation from the City's Financial Officer.

Ms. Corinne Bomben will outline the range of areas that the City will be considering towards their final budget document and set the scene for the public consultation process, which will see the public invited to share their thoughts on the document on Wednesday, March 15th at City Hall.

Council will also be asked to approve the contract for the first phase of the Shawatlans Water project, one of the key infrastructure issues that the city is looking to address this year.

Council will also be holding a Closed Session for this evening starting at 5 PM, the city citing criteria from Section 90 of the Community Charter, noting that the public is to be excluded from those deliberations for the the following reason.

personal information about an identifiable individual who holds or is being considered for a position as an officer, employee or agent of the municipality or another position appointed by the municipality;

The Regular  Council session starts off for the evening with the adoption of agendas and minutes.

Report from the Chief Financial Officer -- 2017 Budget Presentation -- The CFO will present the first look at the 2017 Budget process (Page 9 of the Agenda Package)

Report from the Approving Officer -- Proposal to Stratify property at 2000/2012 Seal Cove Circle -- Council will hear background on the application for stratification. (Page 17 of Agenda Package)

Report from the Director of Operations -- Shawatlans Raw Water Pipeline Project -- Recommendation that Mayor and council approve the recommendation of the Director of Operations and L and M Engineering, and award the Shawatlan Raw Water Pipeline project to Kledo Construction (Page 34 of Agenda Package)

Report from the Director of Operations -- Hays Creek Riparian Area Rehabilitation Project -- Council will hear background and be asked for approval for a letter of support to assist with a grant application from the North Coast-Skeena First Nations Stewardship Society. (Page 36 of the Agenda Package)

Resolutions from Closed Meetings, makes for the next item on the Agenda.

Bylaws mark the next item of the Agenda on the night.

The evening then moves on to Additional Items from Council members, as well as Reports, Questions and Inquiries from Members of Council.

Council members will also offer up any items or concerns that they have for consideration on the night.
