Mr. Cullen's mea culpa on Skeena-Bulkley Valley name change plans

It would appear that Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen has heard a bit more than anticipated from his constituents when it comes to his recent quest to seek out a new name for the riding he represents.

As we outlined on the blog in late November, Mr. Cullen had taken to Twitter with a declaration that the people had spoken and that a new name was to be recommended to Parliament for the sprawling riding of the Northwest that runs from the Bulkley Valley, along the Skeena, and the on to the North Coast, Haida Gwaii and Central Coast.

Not so fast Mr. Cullen, said the constituents!
An previous announcement of a propsoed name change for
Skeena-Bulkley Valley has been put aside for now

Our item of November also traced some of the fascinating history of the riding, a theme that we note that the MP has picked up on in his most recent correspondences on the name change topic with constituents.

Today, Mr. Cullen put a bit of a pause on the name change plans with a letter to constituents that notes that the name of Skeena-Bulkley Valley will remain as it is,  pending further and more extensive consultation with the residents of the region and not until the regular Elections Canada review period comes along.

A period of time that the MP suggests will take place over the next two years.

Mr. Cullen outlined his review of the renaming topic through his social media feeds today.
